XForce Exhaust Systems

The best XForce exhausts for most owners are its Varex valved cat-back systems, which let you change exhaust volume with a valve in the muffler instead of swapping parts. This collection covers Varex cat-backs for the 2022-2026 WRX, the 2011-2021 WRX and WRX STI sedan, and the BRZ and GR86, plus a Pro Series catted downpipe for earlier WRX and WRX STI models at JDMuscle. Check your year and model before ordering, because sedan, hatch, and chassis fitments are not interchangeable.

A cat-back replaces the exhaust from the catalytic converter rearward, shaping sound and flow without changing the downpipe. A valved system like Varex adds a second dimension: closed for a quieter cruise, open for a fuller note under load. A catted downpipe sits further forward and has a larger effect on flow, which is why downpipe changes are normally paired with tuning. The WRX systems here are 3-inch designs, while the BRZ and GR86 system is a 2.5-inch design.

XForce is the single brand in this collection, and its identity here is built around Varex. The XForce Varex Valved 3-inch Cat-Back for 2022-2026 WRX is the current-generation option with quad tips, while the XForce 2.5-inch Varex Cat-Back for BRZ, FRS and 86 covers both the 2013-2021 and 2022-2025 rear-drive coupes listed in its title. For older turbo Subarus, the XForce Pro Series Catted Downpipe for 2008-2014 WRX and 2008-2021 WRX STI is the forward-section upgrade in the range.

Shoppers cross-shopping Subaru exhausts will also find Invidia, one of the largest exhaust ranges in the store, covering cat-backs and downpipes for WRX and WRX STI across several generations. Invidia suits buyers who want a fixed character — a system voiced one way, all the time — where XForce Varex is the pick when you want to change volume on demand. Sound preference is personal, so compare tip style, diameter, and whether the system is valved before deciding on brand alone.

Borla Exhaust Systems and TurboXS are the other alternatives here. Borla's range is cat-back focused, while TurboXS covers Subaru cat-backs for the Forester XT and earlier WRX and WRX STI hatch alongside pitch stop mounts. What does the Varex valve actually do?

The Varex muffler contains a valve that changes the exhaust path inside the muffler. Closed, the system is quieter for cruising and early starts; open, it flows and sounds like a straight performance cat-back.

Will an XForce cat-back fit my WRX?

This collection lists separate systems for 2022-2026 WRX, for 2011-2021 WRX and WRX STI sedan, and a downpipe for 2008-2014 WRX and 2008-2021 WRX STI. Check your year and model against the product title, and note body style, before ordering.

Does a cat-back or downpipe require a tune?

A cat-back alone generally does not require a tune, because it sits behind the catalytic converter. A catted downpipe changes flow ahead of the rear section and should be planned with tuning support for your car.

How difficult is a cat-back install?

Most cat-backs are a bolt-on install on a lift or jack stands with basic hand tools, reusing factory hanger locations. Rusty flange hardware on older cars is the usual complication, so allow extra time on 2008-2014 cars.
