Suspension Bushings

The best suspension bushings for a WRX or WRX STI are polyurethane control-arm and sway-bar bushings from established brands like Perrin, COBB, Super Pro, and Whiteline. They tighten steering response, cut wheel-hop under hard launches, and hold alignment better than tired factory rubber — without the harshness of a full solid kit.

Every suspension joint pivots on a bushing, and factory rubber degrades with heat, oil, and miles. Worn bushings mean sloppy steering, wandering alignment, clunks over bumps, and vague cornering. Upgrading to stiffer bushings restores factory-fresh sharpness and keeps your alignment actually holding.

What to look for: material first. OEM-style rubber keeps things quiet. Polyurethane is the sweet spot for most enthusiasts — firmer and longer-lasting. Purpose-built kits target the weak spots owners complain about most: front control-arm bushings, sway-bar mount bushings, and rear differential subframe inserts. Fitment is year- and model-specific — check your year and model on each product page.

Popular brands here: Perrin (control-arm and sway-bar bushings), COBB (rear differential subframe mount bushing inserts), Super Pro (precision sway-bar bushing kits), Whiteline (chassis and alignment bushings), and OVERTAKE (intercooler isolator bushings).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my suspension bushings are worn out?

Symptoms are loose steering, clunking over bumps, uneven tire wear, and wandering at highway speed. Past 60,000 miles on factory bushings, they are likely due — check your year and model for a compatible kit.

Are polyurethane bushings too harsh for daily driving?

Usually not. Quality polyurethane bushings add firmness and a little road noise, but daily comfort stays intact. Save full solid kits for track builds.

Do I need an alignment after replacing bushings?

Yes. Any time you touch control-arm, subframe, or alignment-correcting bushings, get a professional alignment afterward so tires wear evenly and the car tracks straight.

Can I install bushings myself?

Sway-bar mount bushings and inserts are easy DIY with hand tools. Pressed-in control-arm and subframe bushings need a hydraulic press, so most owners have a shop handle those.
