    Starting at the Front

The front end does the most work on a GR-chassis STI, and it’s where most builds begin.

If you’re replacing a cracked or faded panel, a 2008 STI front bumper swap is straightforward on this platform, and it’s also the easiest way to change the car’s face entirely. Plenty of owners use the opportunity to move to a more aggressive design.

From there, a lip kit or splitter. Racing Art and JDMuscle both build aero designed specifically for this chassis, so you’re not fighting gaps and guessing at drill points during install. A front lip drops the visual ride height and sharpens the bumper line more than any other single part.

Add a GrimmSpeed plate relocation kit to clear the bumper face, and the front end stops looking like a fifteen-year-old car with a plate bracket bolted to it.

Carbon, Aero, and the 2011 Facelift

This is where the build gets personal.

A Seibon carbon hood is the statement piece on this generation: lighter than factory steel, available vented or OEM-style, and the part people ask about at every meet. Carbon trunks, spoilers, and accents extend the theme if you want a consistent look.

Side skirts and a rear diffuser pull the line down the length of the car. Most owners add them together rather than one at a time, since they’re what visually ties the front lip to the rear.

The thing to watch: the 2011 facelift changed the front bumper, grille, and several trim pieces, and the sedan and hatch differ everywhere behind the rear doors. A lip built for a 2009 hatch won’t sit right on a 2012 sedan. Similarly, a 2008 STI front bumper isn’t going to work on the newer facelift. Use the Garage feature to filter by year, trim, and body style. On Subaru STI exterior parts, a slightly wrong fit means gaps you’ll stare at daily.

    FAQs

Do 2008-2010 exterior parts fit 2011-2014 STI models?

Front-end parts usually don’t. The 2011 facelift changed the bumper, grille, and trim. Rear and side pieces cross over more often, but always confirm on the listing.

Will Subaru STI exterior parts fit my STI?

Some do, many don’t. The STI ran wide-body fenders throughout this generation, while the WRX only got them from 2011. Filter by trim in the Garage rather than assuming.

Is a carbon hood or bumper a DIY install?

Hoods, yes, with a second set of hands. Bumper swaps take more time but need no special tools. Paint-matching is a body shop job: we don’t do painting in-house.

Why should I buy Subaru STI exterior parts from JDMuscle?

We design our own cosmetic line, so we know what proper fitment looks like, and we hold outside brands to the same standard. Price match guarantee, easy returns, same-day shipping (Saturdays included), and free shipping over $199 to the lower 48.
