2022+ Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ Exhausts

What are the best exhausts for the 2022+ Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ? The best setup depends on what you want: an axle-back for sound and looks, a cat-back for a fuller tone and modest flow gains, or unequal-length headers for the classic Subaru boxer rumble. This collection covers exhaust parts for the 2022+ GR86 and BRZ, plus compatible pieces for the 2013-2021 FR-S, 86, and first-gen BRZ.

The second-gen twins respond well to exhaust work because the FA24 breathes better with less restriction, and owners usually buy for two reasons at once: sound and weight. A titanium or well-designed stainless system can shave meaningful pounds off the stock exhaust while giving the car a deeper, more aggressive note. Headers are the bigger commitment — they change the character of the engine and usually pair with a tune — while axle-backs and over-pipes are the straightforward bolt-ons most owners start with.

Tomei is the Japanese tuning house best known in the 86 community for its Expreme exhaust line, including lightweight titanium systems built for cars like the BRZ and 86. Tomei's reputation comes from decades of parts for Japanese performance cars, and its exhausts are engineered around weight savings and a distinct high-flow sound rather than just volume. In this collection you will find the Tomei Expreme over-pipe for the 2013+ FR-S, BRZ, and 86, plus the Tomei unequal-length header covering the 2013-2021 cars and the 2022-2023 BRZ and GR86.

PLM builds affordable performance parts, and its strength in this collection is unequal-length headers: the catted UEL header for the GR86 and FT86, and the Power Driven FA24 UEL header for the 2022+ BRZ and GR86. If the goal is the unequal-length boxer rumble without the premium price of the big Japanese brands, PLM is the value play. Remark rounds out the collection with exhaust systems like its 2022+ BRZ and GR86 axle-back with stainless steel double-wall tips — a clean, finished look with a sportier tone than stock. Overtake's adjustable exhaust hanger also lives here for dialing in tip alignment after an install.

Do I need a tune after installing headers?

An ECU tune is commonly recommended after header installs to get the full benefit and keep the engine running properly, especially with catless designs. Check with your tuner for your specific setup.

What is the difference between equal-length and unequal-length headers?

Unequal-length (UEL) headers produce the classic Subaru boxer rumble, while equal-length (EL) headers typically make slightly more power with a smoother tone. Both options in this collection are UEL designs.

Will these parts fit the 2013-2021 FR-S, 86, and BRZ?

Some do — several headers and the over-pipe in this collection list 2013-2021 fitment in their titles. Always check your year and model on the product page, since FA20 and FA24 parts are not always interchangeable.

Are these exhausts street legal?

Legality depends on your state's emissions and noise rules, and catless parts are generally not street legal. Check local regulations before ordering.
