Wilwood Brake Kits & Parts

The best Wilwood upgrades for a Subaru are the ones matched to how the car is driven: ProMatrix rear brake pads for 2005-2017 STI models are the simple street upgrade, while the AERO6 radial-mount front caliper bracket kits for 1999-2012 WRX models step up to serious track-capable braking. Wilwood's catalog here spans complete FNSL6R big brake kits down to bracket kits that adapt Wilwood calipers to stock knuckles, so there is an option for both bolt-on improvement and full big-brake conversions. As with any brake change, confirm fitment for your exact year and wheel size before ordering.

Brakes turn speed into heat, and the stock system's weakness on a driven car is fade: repeated hard stops overheat the pads and fluid, and the pedal goes soft. Wilwood answers with larger, better-ventilated rotors, stiffer multi-piston calipers, and compounds like ProMatrix that hold friction at higher temperatures. Bracket kits are the middle ground — they mount a Wilwood caliper on a larger rotor while reusing the factory knuckle, delivering much of a big brake kit's benefit with less cost. Compare rotor diameter, caliper piston count, and minimum wheel size, since big brakes demand wheel clearance.

Wilwood is a brake-component manufacturer focused on motorsport and performance braking, and its reputation was built at the track: stiff multi-piston calipers, big ventilated rotors, and a deep catalog of pad compounds aimed at cars that get driven hard. That track-first DNA shows in this collection — FNSL6R front big brake kits for the 350Z, AERO6 radial-mount caliper bracket kits for the 1999-2012 WRX, and rear radial caliper bracket kits for the 2006-2007 WRX and 1999-2005 WRX models all adapt race-bred hardware to street fitments. Even the Honda/Acura side of the import scene is covered with the HM7 rear disc brake kit for 1988-2004 Civic/Integra models, showing how wide Wilwood's application range runs. ProMatrix pads round out the line for drivers who want better street bite without a full kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a Wilwood big brake kit clear my stock wheels?

Often not — big brake kits need larger-diameter wheels with enough spoke clearance for the caliper. Check the kit's minimum wheel size and test-fit before committing.

Do I need bigger rotors to go with a Wilwood caliper kit?

Bracket kits are designed around a specific larger rotor, and full big brake kits include their rotors. Never mix a caliper kit with a rotor it wasn't designed for.

Are ProMatrix pads okay for daily driving?

Yes — ProMatrix is a street-oriented performance compound with better bite and heat tolerance than stock, without the noise and dust of a dedicated track pad.

Should I upgrade brake fluid and lines with the kit?

It is strongly recommended. High-temperature fluid and stainless lines keep pedal feel consistent when the new hardware is working hard, and both are inexpensive compared to the kit itself.
