Subaru WRX/STI Tail Lights

The best tail lights for your WRX or STI combine modern LED looks with a fit made for your exact chassis. For 2015–2021 cars, plug-and-play LED units from OLM and Spec-D are the popular choice; for the 2022+ WRX, JDMuscle's Doragon and Matrix series deliver an OEM-style LED upgrade with optional RGB lighting. Whichever route you take, check your year and model before ordering, since 2015–2021 and 2022–2026 tail lights are not interchangeable.

Tail lights are one of the highest-impact visual upgrades on a WRX or STI, replacing the soft factory glow with crisp, modern illumination. Installation on most 2015+ Subaru models is a bolt-on job — the lights plug into the factory harness with no splicing, so a basic toolkit and an afternoon are usually enough.

When shopping, look for full LED housings rather than simple bulb swaps — they give you the even light output and startup sequences that make aftermarket units worth it. Also decide: overlays change the look cheaply, while complete LED assemblies transform the rear end.

JDMuscle is the in-house brand behind some of the most complete Subaru lighting options in this collection. Their Version Doragon LED tail lights for the 2022+ WRX bring a sharp, modern design with an available RGB variant, while the Matrix Series covers 2015–2021 WRX models with a full LED conversion.

Spec-D is a well-known name in affordable aftermarket lighting, and their sequential LED tail lights for the 2015–2021 WRX/STI are a customer favorite — sequential signals, smoked housings, and direct plug-and-play fitment.

OLM focuses on Subaru-specific parts, and the Evolution tail lights for 2015–2021 WRX/STI are a prime example: clean styling, full LED function, and fitment developed specifically for the VA chassis rather than adapted from another platform.

StickerFab takes a different approach with precision-cut vinyl overlays instead of full housings. Their Version 1.0 tail light overlays for the 2022+ WRX let you darken or accent the factory lights at a fraction of the cost — a great option if you like the stock lights but want a stealthier look.

Will these tail lights fit my WRX or STI?

Fitment is split by generation: 2015–2021 WRX/STI units and 2022+ WRX units are different housings. Match the year range in the product title to your car, and check your year and model if you drive a special trim.

Do LED tail lights require wiring modifications?

Most units here are plug-and-play with no cutting or splicing. Some sequential models may need a flasher or resistor to keep the blink rate correct — the product page notes any extras.

Are overlays or full LED housings better?

Overlays are cheaper and reversible, ideal for a subtle smoked look. Full LED housings are brighter and add features like sequential signals — choose them for the complete upgrade.

Will aftermarket tail lights cause condensation issues?

Quality housings use proper seals and venting. If you see fogging, reseating the housing and seals usually fixes it.
