Radiator Fan Shrouds

The best radiator shrouds for the 2015-2021 WRX STI are the Grimmspeed shroud and the Perrin shroud. Both are application-specific, replace the flimsy factory cover, and leave room for upgraded intercoolers and intakes. If you want carbon fiber, the APR Performance cooling plate is the premium option.

What a Radiator Shroud Does

A radiator shroud sits above the radiator and directs airflow through the core instead of letting it escape over the engine bay. That means more effective cooling at speed and in traffic, plus a cleaner engine bay. When shopping, look for application-specific fitment, quality materials like aluminum or carbon fiber, and compatibility with your intake and intercooler setup.

Featured Brands

Grimmspeed

Grimmspeed is a Subaru-centric aftermarket brand known for intercoolers, boost controllers, and engine-dressing parts developed specifically around the WRX and WRX STI platforms. Their radiator shroud is laser-cut from aluminum, powder-coated for durability, and designed to clear factory and aftermarket intake setups. The brand built its reputation on parts that fit without modification and solve real problems Subaru owners face.

Perrin

Perrin is one of the long-running Subaru-focused aftermarket names, best known for intakes, exhausts, and turbo kits engineered for the WRX and WRX STI. The Perrin radiator shroud follows the same formula: an aluminum panel, precision-cut for direct bolt-on fitment, in a black powder-coat finish that blends with the factory engine bay. Their shrouds cover both the 2008-2014 and 2015-2021 chassis.

APR Performance

Their carbon fiber radiator cooling plate for the 2015-2021 WRX STI replaces the factory shroud with a lightweight carbon panel that guides airflow and sharpens the engine bay's appearance.

Process West

Process West is an Australian Subaru specialist best known for top-mount intercoolers engineered for the WRX STI. Their radiator cover for the 2015-2021 WRX STI works with factory or aftermarket intake setups, a useful detail if you are also planning intake and intercooler upgrades.

Compressive Tuning

Compressive Tuning focuses on affordable Subaru-specific upgrades, and their Smart Flow radiator shroud comes in black, red, and silver finishes. The multi-piece design adds color to the engine bay while delivering the same airflow-management benefits as more expensive aluminum shrouds.

Radiator Shroud FAQ

Will a radiator shroud fit with my aftermarket intake?

Most application-specific shrouds, including Grimmspeed and Perrin, clear factory and common aftermarket intakes. Check your intake's year and model fitment against the shroud's listing before ordering.

Is a radiator shroud hard to install?

No — it is a bolt-on job taking 15-30 minutes with basic hand tools. Remove the factory cover, drop the new shroud in place, and re-use the factory hardware.

Does a radiator shroud actually help cooling?

Yes. By sealing the top of the radiator, a shroud forces more air through the core, improving heat rejection at speed and in stop-and-go driving.

Do I need a tune after installing one?

No tune is required. A shroud does not change engine airflow or fueling, so it is a safe cosmetic and cooling-support upgrade.
