Project Mu Brake Pads from JDMuscle

The best Project Mu brake pads are the ones matched to how you drive. For daily driving and canyon runs, the B-Force compound balances bite with low noise and rotor wear; for repeated track sessions, stepping to a more aggressive compound like HC+ pays off in fade resistance. Project Mu covers Subaru STI 2004–2017, Legacy GT 2005–2009, Lexus IS-F, and Lexus IS300 applications in this collection.

Brake pads are the easiest high-impact upgrade on a performance car. The friction compound sets the whole character of the system: initial bite, pedal feel, dust, noise, and how hard the pad fades after repeated stops. Project Mu pads are built around the idea that street, canyon, and circuit drivers need different answers, so the line spans mild street compounds through serious track pads — all shaped to drop into factory calipers without changing anything else.

Project Mu is a Japanese brake specialist founded in 1988 whose entire identity is friction. The brand built its reputation in time attack and circuit racing, and that motorsport background shows up in the compound-first philosophy: pads are engineered around specific driving scenarios rather than one-size-fits-all specs. The B-Force range here targets street-driven cars that see occasional hard use, with compounds tuned for confident bite and manageable dust. Type NS sits as the street-sport option for STI owners who want sharper response on stock calipers, while HC+ steps up for drivers who run track days and need fade resistance under repeated hard braking. Part numbers like PBR906, PBF916, and PBR912 correspond to specific fitments — always match the number to your car before ordering.

Which Project Mu compound is right for me?

B-Force suits daily drivers and weekend canyon cars. Type NS adds bite for spirited street driving on stock calipers. HC+ is aimed at track use where fade resistance matters most. Match the compound to your hardest driving, not your commute.

Do Project Mu pads fit WRX models too?

Project Mu makes WRX fitments, but this collection's sampled listings center on the 2004–2017 STI, Legacy GT, and Lexus applications. Check the part number against your exact year and model.

Do I need to bed in new pads?

Yes. Bedding transfers an even layer of pad material onto the rotor, which is what delivers consistent bite and quiet operation. Follow Project Mu's bedding procedure with several moderate stops from speed, then let the brakes cool fully.

Will track pads be noisy on the street?

They can be. Aggressive compounds trade some street manners for temperature capacity — expect more dust and occasional squeal compared to a street compound. That's why many owners run B-Force or Type NS for daily duty.
