Magnaflow Performance Exhaust

What are the best performance exhausts for a WRX, Miata, or Civic Si? MagnaFlow's Street Series is the sweet spot for daily-driven cars — a deep, mellow tone suited to everyday driving — while the Competition Series turns the volume up for drivers who want an aggressive exhaust note. This collection gathers JDMuscle's MagnaFlow performance exhaust lineup: cat-back systems and direct-fit high-flow catalytic converters for popular Japanese platforms.

What Performance Exhausts Do

A cat-back exhaust replaces everything from the catalytic converter back: larger-diameter mandrel-bent tubing, a straight-through muffler, and polished tips. The result is freer-flowing exhaust, a sportier sound, and modest power gains. MagnaFlow also builds direct-fit catalytic converters, like the Miata units in this collection, that bolt in place of a clogged or failed factory cat. When shopping, weigh sound level (Street vs Competition), stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance, and fitment. Check your year and model before ordering.

About MagnaFlow

MagnaFlow built its reputation on one idea executed well: the straight-through muffler. Instead of routing exhaust through chambers and baffles, MagnaFlow's perforated-core design lets gases flow freely through sound-absorbing packing, which is why its systems are known for a deep, smooth tone rather than a raspy bark. Stainless steel construction is standard across the lineup, so these systems are built to survive winters and road salt far longer than aluminized alternatives. That combination — honest flow, refined sound, durable materials — made MagnaFlow a default choice for drivers who want an exhaust they can live with every day.

Other Exhaust Brands We Carry

If you are cross-shopping, Borla is MagnaFlow's closest American rival — also stainless, also famous for a deep tone, with its S-Type and ATAK lines covering the same mild-to-wild range. Invidia is a staple of the Subaru scene, known for systems like the Q300 and N1 that pair well with tuned WRXs and STIs. And GReddy brings Japanese tuning heritage to the exhaust aisle, with a sound character shaped by decades of JDM motorsport culture.

Popular picks in this collection include the MagnaFlow Street Series Cat-Back for 08-10 WRX Hatchback, the Competition Series Dual-Exit Cat-Back for 17-20 Civic Si Coupe, and the Street Series Cat-Back for 90-97 Miata. If your factory cat is failing, the direct-fit high-flow converters here bolt in with no cutting. Read our cat-back exhaust comparison before you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a cat-back exhaust require a tune?

No. A cat-back does not change airflow enough to require retuning, and power gains are modest. Tuning becomes important when you upgrade the downpipe or intake.

What is the difference between Street Series and Competition Series?

Street Series is MagnaFlow's mellow, daily-friendly line — deep tone, minimal drone. Competition Series is louder and more aggressive, aimed at drivers who want maximum presence.

Will a direct-fit catalytic converter pass emissions?

Direct-fit converters are designed as bolt-in replacements for the factory unit on their listed applications. Emissions rules vary by state, so check your year and model and your local regulations before ordering.

How hard is the install?

Cat-backs and direct-fit cats are bolt-on jobs — typically one to two hours with basic hand tools and jack stands. No welding is required on the applications in this collection.
