GrimmSpeed Intake

The best cold air intakes for a Subaru WRX, STI, or BRZ are systems designed for that exact chassis and engine, with an enclosed airbox and a filter position that draws cooler air from outside the engine bay. This GrimmSpeed Intake collection centers on the StealthBox cold air intake line for the 2015-2021 WRX and STI, the 2008-2014 WRX and STI, and the 2013-2021 BRZ, FR-S, and 86, plus the supporting intake manifold to TGV gasket pair for earlier turbo Subaru models. Check your year and model before ordering, because intake piping, airbox shape, and sensor placement differ by generation.

A cold air intake replaces the factory airbox and inlet tract with a straighter, less restrictive path for air reaching the turbocharger or throttle body, with the filter shielded from hot engine-bay air. An enclosed box design, as the StealthBox name describes, separates the filter from under-hood heat while keeping a tidy, factory-like appearance. Fitment details matter: sensor placement, pipe diameter, and airbox sealing affect how the engine meters air, which is why separate kits exist for the 2015-2021 cars, the 2008-2014 cars, and the naturally aspirated BRZ platform. Several StealthBox kits are listed in both black and red finishes.

GrimmSpeed is the single brand here, a Subaru-focused performance maker whose range spans three Subaru generations. The StealthBox for the 2015-2021 WRX, in black and red, and the StealthBox for the 2015-2021 STI show its enclosed-box approach for the VA chassis. The red intake for 2008-2014 WRX, 2008-2014 STI, and 2009-2013 Forester XT covers the earlier generation, while the black intake for 2013-2021 BRZ, FR-S, and 86 adapts the idea to a naturally aspirated flat-four. GrimmSpeed also supplies the intake manifold to TGV gasket pair for 2002-2014 WRX, 2004-2021 STI, 2005-2012 Legacy GT, and 2004-2013 Forester XT. That combination of complete kits and exact-fit gaskets is its reputation here: Subaru-specific engineering rather than universal piping.

Does a GrimmSpeed StealthBox intake require a tune?

Intake changes can affect how the engine meters airflow, and tuning requirements vary by kit and year. Follow the product listing for your car, and confirm with a tuner before driving hard.

What is the difference between the black and red StealthBox kits?

On the listings in this collection, black and red are finish options for the same application, such as the 2015-2021 WRX and STI kits. Choose by the fitment in the title first, then by the finish you prefer.

Will this intake fit my BRZ or 86?

One kit here is listed specifically for 2013-2021 BRZ, FR-S, and 86 models, separate from the turbo WRX and STI kits. The BRZ platform is naturally aspirated, so its intake is not interchangeable with the WRX parts. Check your year and model against the title.

Why replace the intake manifold to TGV gasket?

That gasket seals the joint between the intake manifold and the TGV housings on the listed turbo models. If the manifold comes off, fitting a fresh pair helps prevent vacuum and boost leaks.
