ARP Fasteners & Hardware

For anyone building a high-horsepower Subaru — or running spacers and aggressive wheels — ARP fasteners are the hardware the job demands. Head studs keep the cylinder head sealed against the block when boost climbs past what factory bolts can hold, and extended wheel studs give you the thread engagement you need for safe spacer and aftermarket-wheel fitment. This is not the place to cheap out.

There are two kinds of fasteners in this collection. Head studs replace the factory head bolts on turbo EJ and FA engines; unlike bolts, studs let you torque the head down more evenly and hold it under higher cylinder pressures, which is why they're standard on serious turbo builds. Wheel studs replace the factory studs with longer, stronger versions — essential if you run wheel spacers or wheels with thicker hubs. Look for correct thread pitch and length for your chassis, and always follow the manufacturer's torque sequence and specs.

ARP (Automotive Racing Products) is the name that comes up whenever engine builders talk fasteners. Its head studs for WRX, STI, and BRZ/FR-S/86 use high-strength alloys — including Custom Age 625+ kits for the highest-output builds — and are machined to tighter tolerances than OEM hardware. The wheel stud kits in this collection cover 02-26 WRX and 04-21 STI fitments in both standard and extended lengths, with the extended 5-pack being the go-to for spacer setups. ARP hardware is reusable and rated well beyond factory torque specs — exactly what a built motor needs.

Beyond the engine, upgraded hardware shows up everywhere on a modified car. Extended wheel studs as a category includes options for track-focused fitments, and engine hardware and fasteners covers the supporting bolts and studs. If you care about the engine bay as much as the dyno sheet, Dress Up Bolts makes anodized hardware kits that replace visible factory bolts with colored titanium-style pieces. Also browse wheels and tires for fitment-matched setups.

Two essentials: the ARP wheel stud kit (1.75 in) fits 02-14 WRX, 04-21 STI, and 13-17 BRZ/FR-S, and the ARP 11mm head studs cover 02-14 WRX and 04-21 STI turbo models. Our best bolt-on mods for the BRZ guide is a good mod-path starting point.

Do I need head studs for my build?

For stock or lightly modified cars, no — factory bolts are fine. Head studs become worthwhile when boost climbs well past stock, where head lift and gasket failure become real risks. Check your year and model for the right kit.

Can I reuse ARP head studs?

Yes — unlike factory torque-to-yield bolts, ARP studs are designed to be reusable across rebuilds as long as they're in good condition and torqued to ARP's specs. Always use the included assembly lubricant and follow ARP's torque sequence.

How hard is a wheel stud install?

Moderate. The wheel, brake caliper, and rotor come off, and the old studs press or hammer out. A shop can do a full set in about an hour; DIY is doable with basic hand tools and a torque wrench.

Do extended studs work with stock wheels?

They can, but extended studs are really meant for spacers or aftermarket wheels with thicker mounting pads — with stock wheels the extra thread just sticks out past the lug nut. Measure your setup and pick the right length.
