2023+ GR Corolla Engine

The best engine upgrades for a 2023+ GR Corolla start with the breathing mods: a cold-air intake, a blow-off valve, an upgraded turbo inlet and charge piping, and a ram-air snorkel. These bolt-ons sharpen throttle response on the turbocharged 1.6L G16E-GTS engine, and every part here is built specifically for the 2023+ GR Corolla platform — check your year and model before ordering.

The turbo three-cylinder responds well to intake-side mods. A cold-air intake lowers intake-air temps and adds induction sound, a blow-off valve keeps boost venting consistent between shifts, and a larger turbo inlet and mid-pipe reduce restriction upstream of the turbo. Go in order: intake and BOV first, then charge piping and an intercooler, with a tune once the breathing changes are complete.

SXTH Element is a GR-platform specialist — the brand builds its catalog around the GR Corolla and GR Yaris, and the sampled products here show that focus: a CPLT intake, a turbo inlet, and a mid-pipe engineered for the 2023+ GR Corolla. Single-platform focus means every part is designed against the actual engine bay it fits.

GFB (Go Fast Bits) is an Australian boost-control brand known for blow-off valves that hold boost cleanly under high-boost, high-heat conditions. The VTA blow-off valve in this collection vents to atmosphere for the signature BOV sound — a popular first mod for turbo cars. Explore the full Go Fast Bits collection for the brand's wider BOV and boost-control range.

Turbosmart is another Australian boost-control specialist, widely recognized for its Kompact line of direct bolt-on blow-off valves. The Kompact EM VR17 dual-port BOV sampled here fits both the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, offering recirculation, atmosphere venting, or both. See the brand's full lineup in the Turbosmart collection.

Velossa Tech builds the Big Mouth line of ram-air intake snorkels — direct-mount ducts that feed cooler outside air straight into the factory airbox location. The GR Corolla Big Mouth snorkel here is a simple bolt-on that complements any intake upgrade, and RGB versions are available. Frequently Asked Questions

Do intake and BOV mods require a tune on the GR Corolla?

Most intake and blow-off valve bolt-ons run fine on the factory tune, though a tune unlocks the full gains once you add charge piping, an intercooler, or a downpipe — check your year and model.

What does a blow-off valve do for a turbo car?

A blow-off valve vents built-up boost pressure when the throttle closes between shifts, preventing compressor surge that stresses the turbo. Vent-to-atmosphere valves add audible sound; dual-port designs like the Kompact EM offer a mix of both.

What is the Velossa Tech Big Mouth snorkel?

A bolt-on ram-air duct that replaces the factory snorkel and feeds cooler outside air directly to the airbox. It pairs well with aftermarket intakes and installs with basic hand tools.

Which engine mods should I do first on a GR Corolla?

Start with an intake, BOV, and turbo inlet, then move to charge piping and an intercooler upgrade. Browse the GFB VTA blow-off valve, the Turbosmart Kompact EM dual-port BOV, and the Velossa Tech Big Mouth ram-air snorkel, and see the intake upgrade guide for what to look for in a cold-air intake.
