2022+ Subaru WRX Cooling Parts

The best cooling upgrades for a 2022+ Subaru WRX target the FA24’s biggest heat weakness first: a top mount intercooler from ETS or AMS, an aluminum or titanium charge pipe from Cobb or ETS, a high-pressure radiator cap like the HKS 1.1 bar unit, and a mesh guard to protect the intercooler fins. Together they cut heat soak, reduce intake restriction, and keep coolant temps in check on back roads and track days. Check your year and model against each listing before ordering.

The turbocharged FA24 in the VB WRX runs hot, and heat soak at the top mount intercooler is the first thing that robs power on repeated pulls. An upgraded top mount intercooler with a larger core and better end tanks keeps intake temps lower for longer, while an aluminum charge pipe replaces the restrictive factory pipe for smoother airflow to the throttle body. A 1.1 bar radiator cap raises the coolant boiling point for extra headroom, and a mesh guard over the top mount protects the delicate fins from debris coming through the hood scoop — cheap insurance for an expensive core.

ETS (Extreme Turbo Systems) is known for its intercooler and charge-pipe engineering, and its VB WRX lineup here includes both a top mount intercooler and a titanium top mount charge pipe — titanium keeps weight down while handling boost pressure with ease. Cobb Tuning needs little introduction in the Subaru world: its wrinkle-black aluminum charge pipe for the 22-26 WRX (plus Ascent, Outback XT, and Legacy XT fitments) is a proven supporting mod for tuned cars. AMS Performance, long associated with high-horsepower Subaru and Mitsubishi builds, offers its own 22-26 WRX top mount intercooler for owners who want maximum thermal headroom. HKS contributes the 1.1 bar limited edition radiator cap for 02-26 WRX/STI, BRZ, and FRS — a simple, proven cooling upgrade. JDMuscle rounds out the category with its in-house top mount intercooler mesh guard featuring a WRX/STI logo, sized for the 22-26 WRX and related FA24 models.

Do I need a tune for a top mount intercooler?

A TMIC alone usually runs safely on the stock tune, but you will not see full gains until the car is tuned — and a charge pipe or any intake-side change on a tuned car should be reviewed by your tuner.

Top mount or front mount intercooler for the VB WRX?

The top mount keeps the factory layout and short piping for quick response, which suits street and light track use. A front mount adds capacity for big-turbo builds at the cost of longer piping.

Will the ETS or AMS intercooler fit my 2022 WRX?

Both are listed for the 22-26 WRX, and the JDMuscle mesh guard covers the same range plus related FA24 models. Check your year and model against the listing before ordering.

Does a radiator cap really help cooling?

A higher-pressure cap raises the coolant boiling point, giving the system more headroom before overheating — a cheap supporting mod, not a fix for an undersized radiator.
