Aftermarket Tow Hooks

What are the best tow hooks for a WRX or STI? Anodized billet-aluminum tow hooks from Perrin, Cusco, and Torque Solution are the go-to upgrades, with front and rear applications for 2015-2021 WRX and STI plus coverage for BRZ, FR-S, 86, and Legacy GT. They thread into the factory tow eye location behind the bumper, so installation takes minutes with no cutting.

Tow hooks are both functional and cosmetic. On the street, a bright anodized hook peeking through the grille is a classic JDM styling cue. On track, they are genuinely useful — many track-day organizations require functional front and rear tow points for tech inspection, giving corner workers a safe place to attach a strap without hooking your suspension or bodywork. When shopping, decide front, rear, or both (a matching pair covers track requirements and looks complete), pick a color — red and neon yellow are the classics — and confirm the anodizing is over billet aluminum rather than paint over steel. Check your year and model, since thread pitch varies by chassis.

Brand spotlight

Perrin is the tow hook specialist here, with the deepest bench: front and rear kits for 2015-2021 WRX and STI, plus a tow hook upgrade kit covering WRX/STI, Legacy GT, BRZ, FR-S, and 86. Its hooks are anodized billet pieces in signature colors like neon yellow, designed alongside the intakes, exhausts, and chassis parts Perrin builds for the Subaru platform.

Cusco comes at the tow hook from the chassis side. The Japanese brand is best known for suspension and chassis bracing — coilovers, strut bars, power braces — and its red tow hook for 2015-2021 WRX/STI carries that motorsport-first attitude. It is a natural pick for owners already running Cusco bracing who want the details to match; see the full Cusco collection.

Torque Solution is the billet hardware specialist: precision-machined aluminum parts for drivetrain, engine, and chassis. Its billet front tow hook for 2015-2019 WRX/STI in red is exactly the brand's formula — a factory piece reimagined in machined aluminum with an anodized finish. Complete the look

Tow hooks pair with other exterior details: exterior trim for surrounding styling, dress-up bolts for matching anodized hardware, and Racing Art for decals and emblems. Two standouts: Perrin front tow hook for 2018-2021 WRX/STI and the Cusco front tow hook in red. For more ideas, read must-have mods for ultimate performance.

Tow hook FAQ

Are tow hooks hard to install?

No — they thread into the factory tow eye receiver behind a small bumper cover, usually a five-minute job with no cutting or permanent modification.

Do I need front and rear?

For street styling, one is enough. For track days, get both — many organizations require functional front and rear tow points to pass tech inspection.

Will a tow hook fit my car?

This collection covers 2015-2021 WRX/STI, 2013+ BRZ, FR-S, 86, and Legacy GT among others, but thread pitch varies by chassis — check your year and model on the product page.

Will the anodized color fade?

Quality anodizing over billet aluminum outlasts painted finishes, though any bright finish shows wear from road debris and sun over time. Red and neon yellow stay visible even as they age.
