Subaru STI 2004-2007 Drivetrain Performance Parts

What are the best drivetrain upgrades for a 2004-2007 STI? Start with the shifter. A Kartboy short shifter and bushing combo is the classic fix for the long, rubbery stock throws on the GD-chassis STI, and a clutch delay valve delete from Perrin or OVERTAKE sharpens clutch pedal response. From there, shift knobs, driveshaft carrier bushings, and clutch components round out a drivetrain that feels as sharp as the car looks.

The drivetrain is everything between the engine and the wheels — shifter, clutch, transmission mounts, driveshaft, and differential — and on a 2004-2007 STI it has taken two decades of abuse. Shifter bushings wear out and turn precise throws vague; the factory clutch delay valve slows engagement for smoothness at the cost of pedal feel. This collection focuses on the bolt-on fixes: short shifters and bushing combos, clutch delay valve deletes, shift knobs, and driveshaft bushings, all selected for the 04-07 STI platform. If you're doing a full clutch job, our ACT and Exedy collections cover performance clutch kits from two of the most trusted names in the business.

Standouts here include the Kartboy short shifter and bushing combo for 04-21 STI and the Perrin clutch delay valve delete. Brand-wise you'll find Kartboy shifter and bushing hardware, Mishimoto shift knobs, and Perrin and OVERTAKE clutch and bushing components. Browse the full Drivetrain collection and Shift Knobs & Accessories for everything shifter-related, and read the best way to find parts for your 2004-2008 STI before you order.

What does a clutch delay valve delete do?

The factory clutch delay valve slows hydraulic engagement to make the clutch easier to drive smoothly. A delete kit removes that restriction for a more direct, predictable pedal — check your year and model for the correct kit.

Is a short shifter hard to install?

It's a popular DIY job. A short shifter and bushing combo typically installs from inside the cabin and under the car with basic hand tools in an afternoon.

Do shifter or clutch parts require a tune?

No. Short shifters, bushings, clutch delay valve deletes, and shift knobs change mechanical feel, not engine calibration.

Will these parts fit all 2004-2007 STI model years?

The collection is curated for the 04-07 STI, but individual products carry their own fitment ranges — some span 04-21 STI, others are year-specific. Always confirm your exact year and model on the product page before ordering.
