Innovative Engine Mounts

For Honda builders asking which motor mounts are best for a K-swap or B-series swap, Innovative Mounts is one of the most trusted names in the scene. Its billet aluminum and steel mount kits replace the soft factory rubber with high-durometer polyurethane bushings, so the engine stays planted instead of rocking in the bay. If you're doing an engine swap or just want crisper throttle response on a built motor, this is where you start.

Motor mounts do two jobs: they hold the engine in place, and they decide how much vibration reaches the cabin. The bushing durometer tells you the trade-off — 60A is closest to stock comfort, 65A is the sporty middle ground, and 75A is the firm race option with the most NVH. For swaps, conversion mounts relocate a B, D, K, or H-series engine into a different chassis (like a B-series into a 92-95 Civic). Check your exact chassis and engine code before ordering.

Innovative Mounts built its reputation on Honda swap hardware, offering both machined billet aluminum kits and more affordable steel versions across B, D, K, and H-series applications. The durometer system — 60A, 65A, and 75A bushings — lets you pick the exact balance of stiffness and comfort your build needs, from daily-driven Civics to track cars. Conversion kits like the 88-91 Civic B-series steel mount set give you bolt-in mounts for an engine the chassis never came with. Hasport is the direct rival and the other big name in Honda swap mounts, with its own line of billet conversion kits for the same chassis and engine combinations. Two standouts from the sampled products: the Innovative Mounts B-series transmission mount for the 92-95 Civic and 94-01 Integra uses a 65A black-anodized billet bracket for a firm but streetable setup, and the 06-11 Civic Si K-series billet mount kit with 75A bushings is the go-to for high-power K builds. The 88-91 Civic/CRX D-series conversion T-bracket handles the cable-to-hydro clutch conversion. Our top 3 parts for the Civic Si guide covers more ways to sharpen the chassis.

Which bushing durometer should I choose?

60A is mildest and closest to stock comfort — good for daily drivers. 65A is the sporty compromise. 75A is the stiffest option and noticeably increases cabin vibration, best for track or high-power builds.

Do I need all the mounts for an engine swap?

Yes. Conversion kits are sold as complete sets because the engine, transmission, and torque mounts all have to position the new engine correctly in the chassis. Replacing only one mount leaves the rest soft and defeats the purpose — check your year and model for the right kit.

How hard is the install?

It's a bolt-on job with basic hand tools if you can support the engine, usually a few hours. The fiddly part is aligning the drivetrain so everything torques down without binding — take your time with the torque specs.

Will stiff mounts hurt my daily driver?

It depends on the durometer. 60A mounts feel nearly stock, while 75A mounts will shake the cabin at idle and on decel. If comfort matters, stick with the softer bushing and accept a bit more engine movement.
