Front Type-RS 1.5 Way Limited Slip Differential

Cusco's Type-RS limited slip differential for the front axle of the 2004-2014 Subaru WRX STI. In a corner, the inside driven wheel unloads and can spin freely instead of putting power down; a mechanical LSD forces both front wheels to lock together, maximizing traction on power out. Where the factory front differential can be too weak to keep both wheels locked under hard acceleration, the Cusco unit keeps them firmly locked to keep the car planted.

1.5 Way - Activates under acceleration with lighter lockup on deceleration. Suited to all types of motorsports driving, with strong lockup on acceleration and a lighter deceleration setting favored by road racers; also usable for drifting, low-gear autocross, and gymkhana.

The Type-RS uses coil springs to absorb some of the initial torque applied to the LSD. This makes for gentler engagement and smoother transitions, keeps chatter to a minimum, extends service life, and reduces oil-change frequency.
