The VikingContact 8 is Continental's Studless Ice & Snow winter tire, developed for drivers of sedans, crossovers, coupes, and minivans—including electric variants—who want greater confidence in winter conditions through advanced tire technology. Engineered to provide strong traction in slush, snow, and ice, along with dependable wet performance and stable dry-road handling, the VikingContact 8 is built to perform across a wide range of winter weather scenarios.

The VikingContact 8 features a specialized winter compound incorporating PolarPlus+ Technology, which helps the rubber stay flexible in low temperatures to enhance grip, braking, and overall performance in cold, wet, and icy conditions. The compound is molded into a sophisticated groove network that channels water and slush away from the contact patch for improved control. An optimized void ratio ensures a high volume of rubber remains in contact with the road, promoting confident tracking and control at speed. Reinforced linkages and interlocked block bridges stabilize the tread while maintaining open grooves for effective water and slush evacuation. The abundance of sipes throughout the tread provides biting edges for traction on slippery surfaces, while wider sipes form snow pockets that capture and retain snow for improved snow-on-snow grip. Additionally, Grip Edges positioned on the outer tread blocks bite into snow, increasing the tire's contact area and further enhancing traction on snow- and ice-covered roads.
