OS Giken Drivetrain Parts

What are the best clutch and LSD upgrades for a Nissan Skyline GT-R, 350Z, or Civic Type R? For big-power RB26 and VQ builds, OS Giken's multi-plate clutches — the TS, TR, HTR, and R3C-R series — are among the most respected options in the Japanese tuning world, holding big torque with civilized pedal effort. For GT-Rs, the Super Lock LSD is the matching upgrade

A multi-plate clutch is the answer when a single-disc setup can no longer hold your engine's torque. Twin- and triple-plate designs spread the load across two or three discs, so clamping force goes up without turning the pedal into a leg workout. Dampened versions soften engagement for daily driving; race-spec setups trade civility for maximum hold. Don't skip the supporting hardware — the release sleeve assembly is what your throw-out bearing rides on, and a limited-slip differential locks the driven wheels together under power, sharpening turn-in and killing one-wheel spin.

OS Giken is the Japanese drivetrain specialist whose name is synonymous with high-end multi-plate clutches and the Super Lock LSD. Rather than covering every car on the road, they focus on performance drivetrains — Skyline GT-R, 350Z, Civic Type R, and other enthusiast platforms — engineering each application from the ground up. That focus is why their kits are a fixture in professional paddocks and street builds alike.

Exedy is the Japanese clutch manufacturer many factory cars ship with, and they're an OEM supplier as well as an aftermarket name. For moderate power increases where you want near-stock feel, Exedy is the safe pair of hands in this space.

ACT (Advanced Clutch Technology) is an American clutch maker built around the tuner market, with single-disc performance clutches in clear street-to-race tiers. A popular choice where an OS Giken multi-plate would be overkill for the power level.

Competition Clutch is a dedicated performance-clutch brand aimed at the daily-driven performance car. If your build sits between stock and serious race power, their kits offer a straightforward upgrade path without multi-plate complexity.

Do I need a tune after installing an OS Giken clutch?

No — a clutch doesn't change airflow or fueling. Bed the discs in with a few hundred miles of mixed driving before hard launches.

Is a twin-plate clutch too aggressive for a street car?

The dampened TR-series twin plates are designed for street use. Race-spec triple plates are noticeably sharper — fine for weekend cars, but try before you buy on a daily.

What's the difference between the TS, TR, HTR, and R3C-R series?

Different plate counts and designs for different power levels: TS twins for serious street cars, TR dampened twins for street comfort, HTR twins for higher-output Honda applications, and the R3C-R triple plate for the biggest builds.

Will the Super Lock LSD fit my GT-R?

The application here is specific — front LSD for the R32, R33, and R34 GT-R with the RB26DETT and manual transmission. Always confirm your year and model on the listing.
