Innovate Motorsports Gauges

What is the best air/fuel ratio gauge for a turbocharged Subaru? For a tuned or E85-running WRX or STI, a wideband AFR gauge is the first gauge to install, and Innovate Motorsports digital wideband kits are a long-time favorite of tuners. The MTX-L Plus pairs a Bosch wideband O2 sensor with a fast digital display, while the ECF-1 and ECB-1 all-in-one kits add ethanol content and boost readings to a single gauge.

Your factory O2 sensor is a narrowband unit — it only knows whether the mixture is richer or leaner than stoichiometric, which tells you almost nothing at full boost. A wideband sensor reads the actual air/fuel ratio across the whole range, so you can spot a lean condition before it costs you a motor. That data matters most on flex-fuel and E85 builds, where ethanol content swings with every fill-up, and on any car running more boost than stock. This collection covers the full toolkit: standalone digital AFR gauges, replacement Bosch wideband sensors, and Innovate's LM-2 handheld meter for datalogging AFR and RPM during tuning sessions.

Innovate Motorsports built its name on wideband tuning instrumentation. The MTX-L Plus is the core of the lineup — a digital gauge kit with an 8-foot cable and a Bosch wideband O2 sensor in the box — while the ECF-1 combines AFR and ethanol content readings for flex-fuel builds, and the ECB-1 adds a boost readout on top of that. The LM-2 takes the same wideband technology into a handheld meter for dyno or street tuning work. AEM offers its own X-Series digital widebands for shoppers comparing gauge ecosystems, and Cobb Tuning Accessports pair naturally here — the Accessport monitors factory parameters while the wideband covers the one thing the stock ECU cannot measure accurately under boost. Gauges and engine management round out the monitoring side of the build.

Popular picks in this collection: the MTX-L Plus digital wideband gauge kit with O2 sensor, the ECF-1 ethanol content + AFR gauge kit for flex-fuel setups, and a standalone Bosch wideband O2 replacement sensor. For more on what to watch while tuning, see What To Monitor On Accessport WRX.

Do I need a wideband gauge if I already have an Accessport?

Yes for a tuned car. The Accessport reads the factory narrowband sensor, which goes blind under boost. A wideband gauge shows your true AFR where it matters — many tuners require one before they will tune.

What is the difference between the MTX-L Plus and the ECF-1?

The MTX-L Plus is an AFR-only gauge with a Bosch wideband sensor in the box. The ECF-1 is an all-in-one kit that adds an ethanol content reading, making it the pick for flex-fuel builds.

Will the sensor fit my downpipe?

Wideband sensors need their own bung welded into the downpipe ahead of the catalytic converter — most aftermarket downpipes include one. Check your year and model before ordering.

How often do wideband O2 sensors need replacing?

Wideband sensors wear out with heat cycles and leaded race fuel exposure. Keep a spare Bosch replacement sensor on hand if you tune often or run race gas.
