Fuel Pressure Regulators

The best fuel pressure regulator for a return-style system is the Aeromotive 13129 for high-horsepower universal builds, and the AEM 25-305BK high-cap adjustable regulator for boosted applications with a boost-referenced 1:1 rising rate. Match the regulator to your system type (return vs. returnless), flow requirements, and whether you need boost reference — check your year and model before ordering.

What a Fuel Pressure Regulator Does

A fuel pressure regulator keeps fuel pressure consistent at the injectors, bypassing excess fuel back to the tank in return-style systems. Boost-referenced regulators raise pressure 1:1 with manifold pressure so injector flow stays predictable under boost. When shopping, match flow rate to your injectors, look for adjustable base pressure, and confirm fitting sizes (-6AN, -8AN) match your fuel lines.

Featured Brands

Aeromotive

Aeromotive is a fuel-system specialist known for fuel pumps, regulators, and fuel rails built for high-horsepower and forced-induction applications. The 13129 universal regulator is one of their signature parts: adjustable base pressure, boost-reference capability, and flow capacity for big-power builds. When a fuel system needs to keep up with larger injectors and upgraded pumps, Aeromotive is the brand most shops reach for.

AEM

AEM is known for performance electronics and engine management, and their universal adjustable fuel pressure regulators are a staple in boosted import builds. The 25-305BK high-cap unit supports high-flow systems with a boost-referenced 1:1 rising rate, and AEM backs it with rebuild kits, barb fittings, and banjo bolts — stocked in this collection — so the regulator can be serviced or adapted without replacing the whole unit.

Fuelab

Fuelab specializes in fuel system components with an emphasis on precision and compact packaging, from pumps and filters to regulators and sensors. Their parts are popular in builds where space is tight and accurate fuel delivery matters, making them a strong alternative to larger-format regulators.

Radium Engineering

Radium Engineering is known for fuel system and oiling components with genuine motorsport pedigree — surge tanks, fuel rails, and catch cans engineered for track duty. Their fuel products are designed around real-world delivery and starvation problems, a favorite in high-G and boosted applications where consistent pressure is critical.

Grams Performance

Grams Performance is known for precision fuel injectors, and that injector expertise pairs naturally with proper fuel pressure regulation. If you are upsizing injectors, browse the fuel pumps collection alongside a quality regulator. For fuel system theory, read: Subaru EJ257 Engine: Everything You Need To Know.

Fuel Pressure Regulator FAQ

Return vs. returnless — which regulator do I need?

Return-style systems need a bypass regulator that sends excess fuel back to the tank; returnless systems regulate dead-head pressure at the rail. Check your year and model to confirm which system your car uses.

Do I need a boost-referenced regulator?

For turbocharged or supercharged builds, yes — a boost-referenced (1:1 rising rate) regulator keeps fuel pressure consistent as boost increases. Naturally aspirated builds can run a fixed regulator.

Is installing a fuel pressure regulator hard?

It is a moderate job: mount the regulator, plumb the inlet/outlet lines with the correct AN fittings, connect the vacuum/boost reference line, and set base pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.

Do I need a tune after changing the regulator?

If you change base pressure or add boost reference, yes — fueling tables must be updated by your tuner.
