Forced Performance Turbos

The best Forced Performance turbos for a Subaru WRX or WRX STI are the stock-location FP Green and FP Black upgrades in this collection, matched to your model years and wastegate setup. Most fitments here cover the 2004-2021 STI and 2002-2007 WRX, with an Evo X gasket set and a WRX 2015+ silicone inlet also in the range, so check your year and model before ordering.

A larger stock-location turbocharger is a supporting-mods upgrade, not a standalone bolt-on. The turbo compresses intake air so the engine can burn more fuel and make more power, but airflow, fueling, intercooling, and tuning all have to keep up. Look at compressor size, turbine housing size, and whether the turbo uses an internal wastegate (IWG) or is built for an external wastegate (EWG), because that choice changes the up-pipe and boost-control parts you need. Supporting pieces matter too: this collection includes an 84mm turbo inlet for the 2002-2007 WRX, 2004-2021 STI, and 2004-2008 Forester XT, plus a gasket set for the 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Evo X.

Forced Performance is represented here entirely by its own Subaru turbo program: FP Green and FP Black turbochargers in 84mm form with 8cm turbine housings, in both IWG and EWG versions, several listed with an oil feed line included. That narrow focus is the brand's identity in this catalog — drop-in, stock-location upgrades for EJ-powered Subaru cars rather than universal turbos needing custom fabrication. The FP Green 57S EWG turbocharger and the FP Green IWG turbocharger show the two wastegate paths side by side.

Garrett is the broad-range turbocharger name in the wider turbos and superchargers range at JDMuscle, covering applications well beyond stock-location Subaru fitments. Garrett suits builders planning a custom setup, where manifold and piping are chosen around the turbo. Comparing Garrett against a Forced Performance drop-in is a useful first decision for any build.

Blouch Performance Turbo is another Subaru-focused turbo option in the store, known to Subaru owners for bolt-on upgrades in a similar stock-location spirit. Cross-shopping Blouch and Forced Performance usually means weighing spool character against top-end airflow for the same chassis. Either way, boost control hardware from Turbosmart and a proper tune are part of the package, and the 84mm turbo inlet completes the intake side.

Do I need a tune after installing a larger turbo?

Yes. A larger turbo changes airflow substantially, so tune for the exact turbo, fuel, and supporting parts fitted. Do not drive hard on a mismatched tune.

What is the difference between IWG and EWG versions?

IWG turbos use an internal wastegate in the turbine housing, keeping the setup simpler. EWG versions need a separate external wastegate and different up-pipe and plumbing parts — confirm which a listing is before ordering.

Is an FP Green or FP Black a direct bolt-on?

These are stock-location turbos, designed around the factory mounting position for the listed fitments. You still need the correct inlet, gaskets, oil feed, fueling, and tuning parts for your build.

Will one of these turbos fit my WRX or STI?

Most listings cover the STI 2004-2021 and WRX 2002-2007, with separate pieces for the 2015+ WRX and Evo X. Check your year and model against the product title.
