2013-2020 BRZ / GR86 Lowering Springs

Lowering springs are the budget-friendly way to improve the stance and handling of your 2013-2020 BRZ / GR86 — stiffer rates and a lower ride height on the factory dampers. They work well when the drop is modest and the spring rates are matched to what the stock struts can control.

Drop height is the headline number, but rate is what you feel. A 1-inch drop with a moderate rate increase sharpens turn-in and reduces body roll without ruining ride quality. Drops beyond about 1.5 inches on stock dampers cause the struts to bottom out and wear prematurely — at that point you should be looking at coilovers instead.

Check whether the springs are progressive or linear. Progressive springs stay comfortable over small bumps and stiffen under load, which suits daily-driven cars. Linear rates give more predictable handling at the limit and are preferred for track use. Also confirm the kit includes or recommends upgraded bump stops.

An alignment is mandatory after installing lowering springs — the BRZ / GR86's camber changes significantly with ride height. Every spring set here is confirmed for the 2013-2020 BRZ / GR86; filter by drop range to match your goals.

Give the springs a week to settle before the alignment — most quality springs drop a few extra millimeters as they seat, and aligning on day one means doing it twice. While you wait, check that nothing rubs at full lock and full compression before driving hard.
