Built on a Strong Factory Foundation

The STI's multi-link rear suspension is shared with the WRX but tuned to a different spring rate for sharper turn-in. One real limitation carries over from the factory geometry: the rear lower control arms are fixed length, so there's no camber adjustment out of the box.

That's where aftermarket control arms from Whiteline or Cusco come in. Swapping in adjustable rear control arms restores the camber tuning that's missing from the factory setup, which matters the moment you lower the car or run wider wheels.

Choose the Right Subaru STI Suspension Setup

Daily driver chasing a cleaner stance? Eibach or Tein lowering springs drop ride height without sacrificing the compliance you need for daily roads.

Track regular pushing harder? Ohlins or BC Racing coilovers give you full ride height and damping control, built to handle repeated heat cycles that stock dampers weren't designed for. Pairing either setup with Perrin strut tower braces tightens chassis flex under hard cornering.

Round Out the Build With Supporting Components

Torque Solution engine and transmission mounts cut drivetrain movement that robs power delivery. Super Pro and Prothane bushings replace soft factory rubber throughout the chassis.

Air Lift Performance rounds out the catalog for owners who want adjustable ride height without giving up daily comfort. Every listing on JDMuscle's Subaru STI suspension page includes verified fitment details, so you know a component matches your specific VA-chassis trim.

    FAQs

Why doesn't my STI have rear camber adjustment from the factory?

The rear multi-link suspension uses fixed-length lower control arms, so camber is set by ride height and manufacturing tolerances alone. Subaru's factory eccentric bolts only adjust the toe, not camber.

Do I need an alignment after installing new suspension components?

Yes, any change to ride height, control arm length, or camber settings shifts your alignment specs. Get a full alignment after the install, or you'll see uneven tire wear within a few thousand miles.

What's the difference between lowering springs and coilovers for an STI?

Lowering springs work with your factory dampers and drop ride height at a fixed rate. Coilovers replace the entire strut assembly, giving you adjustable ride height and often adjustable damping too.
