The best clutch for your build matches your torque target and how you actually drive the car. McLeod's Street Elite and Street Power kits suit daily-driven cars with bolt-ons, while twin-disc RXT setups are built for high-torque applications like supercharged LS swaps and big-turbo rotaries. Pick a kit rated comfortably above your peak torque — a clutch run at its limit slips early and wears fast.

A complete McLeod clutch kit typically includes the pressure plate, clutch disc, and flywheel, so the whole rotating assembly goes in matched. The Street lines use full-face organic discs for stock-like pedal feel, while RXT twin-disc kits run ceramic discs on a steel flywheel to hold big power. When shopping, look at torque capacity first, then disc material: organic for street manners, ceramic or bronze-button for hard launches and track heat.

The collection is built around McLeod Racing's lineup — Street Elite and Street Power kits plus twin-disc RXT setups — with related kits from ACT, Exedy, South Bend Clutch, and Clutch Masters. Browse all clutch kits or dive into upgrading your Subaru's clutch for application advice.

Do I need a tune after installing a performance clutch?

No tune is required for a clutch swap on its own — it is a mechanical part, not an engine management change. If you are adding the clutch because of a turbo or engine build, that build will need its own tune.

How hard is a clutch to install at home?

A clutch replacement means separating the transmission from the engine, so it is a full-day job for an experienced DIYer with a lift or tall jack stands. Budget for a new throwout bearing and rear main seal while the transmission is out.

Will an aggressive clutch chatter on the street?

Puck-style and ceramic discs can chatter on engagement, especially when cold or under light throttle. If your car is a daily driver, stick with a full-face street disc matched to your torque.

When should I step up to a twin-disc clutch?

When a single-disc kit cannot hold your torque without an on/off pedal feel — generally in high-boost or stroker builds. Twin discs spread the load so pedal effort stays manageable while capacity doubles.
