EBC Brakes

The best EBC brake pads depend on how you drive: pick Yellowstuff for aggressive street driving and track days, and Redstuff ceramic for a low-dust daily driver with strong, confident bite. matching the pad to your driving style is what matters most.

EBC Brakes is one of the most trusted names in performance braking, and this collection covers their pad lineup for popular JDM platforms — including the 2022+ WRX and BRZ/86 chassis in both front and rear fitments. Performance pads use higher-friction compounds than OEM pads, which shortens stopping distances and resists fade when brakes get hot. The trade-off is worth knowing: aggressive compounds can produce more dust and noise than stock pads, which is exactly why EBC offers multiple tiers.

When shopping, first confirm whether you need front or rear pads, and whether your car has a manual or CVT — WRX models with an electric parking brake use different rear pads. Redstuff ceramic is the go-to for daily drivers who want better-than-stock stopping with minimal wheel dust. Yellowstuff steps up friction for canyon runs and occasional track days. Always bed in new pads with a series of controlled stops so the compound transfers evenly to the rotor face.

Popular brands: EBC Brakes — like the Yellowstuff front pads for the 2022+ WRX or the low-dust Redstuff front pads — plus fellow braking specialists StopTech and Hawk Performance.

Do I need new rotors when I upgrade to EBC pads?

Not always. If your rotors are within spec and not warped or deeply scored, a pad swap alone is a solid upgrade. Pairing fresh pads with fresh rotors gives the best bedding and bite, though.

What is the bedding-in procedure for new brake pads?

Do a series of moderate stops with cool-down between cycles, then avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles to transfer an even pad layer onto the rotor.

Will performance pads dust more than stock?

Aggressive compounds like Yellowstuff can dust more than OEM. If clean wheels matter to you, choose a ceramic compound like Redstuff, which is formulated for low dust.

Can I run EBC pads on the track?

Yellowstuff suits occasional track days on a street car; dedicated track cars need track-specific compounds and high-temp fluid.
