The best sway bars for a WRX are adjustable rear bars — a rear sway bar upgrade is the most popular first handling mod because it tames factory understeer without changing ride height. Adjustable designs let you fine-tune front-to-rear balance for street or track use with different stiffness settings. Buy the bar made for your exact chassis; bar diameter and endlink geometry are not interchangeable across platforms.
Sway bars (also called anti-roll bars) tie the left and right suspension together to resist body roll in corners. A stiffer rear bar loosens the rear of the car for sharper rotation, while a stiffer front bar adds front-end response at the cost of more push. Adjustable options on this page include the Perrin 19mm rear adjustable sway bar and the Perrin 22mm front adjustable sway bar for 2008-2021 WRX/STI and BRZ/86 chassis. Sampled products also include the Hotchkis front sway bar for the 2013-2021 BRZ/FR-S/86 and BLOX Racing bars for the 2015-2019 WRX and the 2003-2007 350Z/G35 (fitments from the product titles).
Brands on this page include Perrin, Hotchkis, and BLOX Racing — browse the Hotchkis brand collection for more of its chassis parts, and pair your bars with supporting upgrades from the chassis bracing, suspension bushings, and strut bars collections. Our guide to the best suspension upgrades for the 2022 WRX explains how sway bars fit into a complete handling package.
Do I need new endlinks with sway bars?
Factory endlinks often work, but stiffer bars put more load on them — upgraded endlinks are a common companion purchase, especially on higher-mileage cars. Check your setup before ordering.
Front or rear sway bar first?
Most WRX owners start with the rear bar to dial out understeer. A front bar added later balances the car back out; installing both as a matched set is the most predictable route.
Will sway bars make the ride harsher?
Barely. Sway bars mainly act when the left and right wheels move differently, like in corners — straight-line ride over bumps is largely unaffected, which is why bars are popular on daily drivers.
Are adjustable sway bars worth it?
If you change tires, alignment, or drive both street and track, adjustability lets you retune balance without buying new parts. For a set-and-forget street car a fixed bar is fine — just check your year and model for the right application.
