Start with Stance, Finish with Details

Most exterior builds follow the same arc. Aero comes first: a front lip does more to change the car’s presence than anything else you can bolt on, and it’s the piece people notice from across a parking lot. JDMuscle and Racing Art both make lip kits designed specifically for the VA chassis, so you’re not fighting gaps and drill points on install.

Side skirts and a rear diffuser extend that line down the length of the car. Together they lower the visual ride height and tie the front and rear together. This is why most owners add them as a set rather than one at a time.

Lighting is where the character comes in. Spec-D headlights and taillights are among the most popular WRX exterior mods for exactly this reason. Swapping the factory housings changes the car’s face completely, day or night, and this is why WRX cosmetic mods are so popular.

Then the details: grilles, mirror covers, badges, carbon accents. Small pieces, big results.

Fitment Matters More on Exterior Parts

Here’s the thing about body panels: a suspension component that’s slightly off still bolts in. Aero that’s slightly off leaves gaps you’ll stare at every day. The 2018 model year refresh changed the WRX front bumper, grille, and several trim pieces. That means a lip kit built for 2015-2017 won’t sit right on a 2018-2021 car, and vice versa. Same story for some lighting and grilles.

GrimmSpeed hardware and JDMuscle components list fitment ranges clearly on every product page. When you’re spending real money, five minutes of checking beats a return shipment.

    FAQs

Do 2015-2017 WRX exterior mods fit 2018-2021 models?

Often not. The 2018 refresh changed the front bumper, grille, and some trim, so front-end aero and certain lighting components are year-specific. Rear and side pieces cross over more reliably. Always check the listing fitment.

Is exterior aero a DIY install?

Mostly yes. Lip kits, diffusers, and spats typically use existing mounting points with basic hand tools, though some require drilling. Lighting swaps take more patience.

Do you carry parts for stock and modified body styles?

Yes. The catalog covers factory-fitment pieces and more aggressive aero for wide-body and heavily modified builds, from JDMuscle, Racing Art, Spec-D, and GrimmSpeed. When you’re shopping for WRX exterior mods, find a comprehensive collection at JDMuscle.

Why is JDMuscle the destination for exterior auto parts?
